About Ballpark

A ballpark figure is a rough estimate: not exact, but in the right range. Ballpark is a daily game about getting there. Everyone gets the same question each day, and the answer is always a number.

Some questions are facts you may half remember, like the height of a landmark. Others are Fermi questions: you probably don't know the answer, but you can reason your way close by breaking it into pieces you do know. After each game you'll see how you could have estimated it, and where the number comes from.

Closeness is judged on a log scale, the way estimates work in real life: being twice too high is as far off as being half too low.
